Case Study | Sunflower Collector

Context:

My team and I were tasked with creating a fun game utilizing different aspects of unity learned within class.

Outcome:

Our game was Sunflower Collector. The player plays as a little boy collecting flowers to bring back to his mom, to retrieve these flowers he will have to traverse three levels of a farm and be careful not to alert the angry farmer.

Sunflower Collector is a third person maze simulator with a chase at the last level.

My Role:

UI Designer / Game Developer

Brainstorming:

We had decided we wanting to do a maze simulator, and started sketches with what each maze would look like as well as what objective the player may have.

Main things we wanted to include:

  • Farm based scenery

  • Young protagonist

  • Item collection

  • Overall calm tone and mood

World Building:

We used Blender, and the Unity assets store for the objects shown in this game

Maze skeletons:

Hay maze

Corn maze

Barn maze

Scripts:

  • Main Menu

  • End Screen

  • Door Trigger

  • Coin Collector

  • Score Manager

  • Ambient Music
